Square Enix will be holding a new orchestral concert to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Seiken Densetsu 3 (and its upcoming remake, titled Trials of Mana outside Japan) for two performances in Tokyo on May 10, 2020. The concert venue this time around is Bunkamura Orchard Hall, which has much better acoustics than their usual venue Tokyo International Forum. General ticket sales begin March 14. Themes already announced to be featured include:

Where Angel Fear to Tread
Meridian Child
Evening Star
Little Sweet Café
Splash Hop~Can You Fly Sister?
Decision Bell

Ticket purchase links and more details in Japanese are at the official concert site.

Expect an album release not long after!

It took a LOOOOONG time for this concert to be performed and recorded on CD, but as someone who purchased the album for Christmas, I can say that this is nothing short of a treat.  The orchestrations are lovely and the transitions expertly done.  Even some tracks that I personally would not have imagined being orchestra material (Kikuta's style tends to be, well, a bit of everything, and not necessarily one genre) work quite well.  My only quibble is that I liked the versions of "Angel's Fear", "Meridian Child", and "Return to Forever" better on the TRIALS OF MANA REMAKE soundtrack, but otherwise this is a real treat.  The final three tracks on the album, which are transitions from Secret of Mana and Trials of Mana compositions is especially a stroke of genius.  One can see the relationship between the two works easily.  "Sacrifice Part One, Two & Three" also works beautifully.  This is on my list for one of the top ten soundtrack releases of this year.
