I've probably invested about 40 hours; beat the GC, PS2, and Wii version once and got halfway through a Professional Run on the PS2 before giving up.  The easiness of Wii aiming may encourage me again one day, but that day is not today.  Too many old games to finish.

Reading some of these comments, makes me wonder how much time people have spent on RE4... so, how much time have you spent on it? (Heh, maybe the amount of time people are spending on the game is truly the scariest part :P

RE4 has siphoned an ungodly amount of play time out of me; far more than I imagined.  I suppose that's partially due its lengthiness, but it never ceases to amaze me at how substantial and addictive the game really is.   My very first time with the GC original took me close to 22 hours to complete the main quest -- and I wasn't even being thorough.  By my second and third go-arounds, I had a better handle of things, and proceeded to achieve perfect runs and collect everything.  Then I wanted to try perfect runs from scratch (and not from an overpowered new game+), as well as Professional Mode.  The replayability options are amazing.

As for my lifetime tally spent on RE4 (which includes the multiple playthroughs from each of the three console versions), it's gotta be well over a hundred hours.  To me, that's unheard of for a game of this genre - and a true testament at how unbelievably dope it is.

I never actually beat RE4. I got stuck on the part where you're holed up in the house and zombies are crawling through the windows. Not only did it scare the shit out of me but it was HARD.

When I get a Wii, I'm definitely picking up that version. Maybe it'll be a little easier. tongue

I hadn't seen RE4 until yesterday, a friend brought the Wii version over and I watched it played for a few hours.  I have to say it looks awesome, and it will be one of the few games I will immediately seek out when I do someday buy a Wii.  The fact that I love light gun games makes this more attractive to me than RE4 that is on other consoles.  There's nothing more satisfying than scoring one hit zombie kills because you've perfected aiming at that sweet spot in the head.  On the Wii, it seems to be more towards the center of the face than the top of the scalp like in RE:Dead Aim.

I'd conservatively estimate about 65-75 hours, all with the NGC version.

The 180-degree turn is a pain.  I have to flick down + Z to do it.  You can turn around after a run.

And I wish I can get used to those A-button action attack.  It seems every time I go in for it, I either ran past or the enemy is not staggered.

Hey, so do I!  What do you know!

I do wish Capcom gave an option to auto-run without having to hold the Z button down all the time.  That worked fine with holding the B button on the GC original, but the nunchuck's control grip does give one's index finger a cramp when being held for such long periods of time.  I mean, seriously.... how often does one just WALK in this game?

And by the way, my Leon just turned into GOD again today, with the purchase of the Chicago Typewriter.  This version did throw me for a bit of a loop, seeing as how you need to complete Separate Ways to unlock the weapon in Leon's game, rather than Assignment Ada.

I'll need to strive for the Handcannon next.  How on earth did you get through Mercs mode so quickly, Ryu?

A friend and I worked together on clearing through it.  I hate Mercenary mode; it is the worst thing about the release.

A'ight, so I fiiiiiiiiiinally began playing this after buying it at launch earlier this year.  I notice a few of you (XLord007 and Angela among them) like to make your way through each section with a perfect mark.  Is there any reward for this or is it just a personal challenge?

It's just a personal challenge.

It's just a personal challenge.

But to me, it's the only way to play RE4.  Guess I was just brought up with that mentality when I first started; health is so monumentally crucial in the game to begin with, but I also hate giving those Ganados the satisfaction of hitting my fair self.  Keep those fraggin' pitchforks to yourselves!!
