Wait for it... SMG will piss you off eventually and you'll be more than ready to have SSBB to kick that little moron's ass.  But, on its own, I really have enjoyed Brawl and recommend it if you've enjoyed the previous ones, but it isn't a massive departure from SSBM---if you aren't a fan of the series, it reallly doesn't offer anything revolutionary that would change your mind.

I've never played the series before. tongue

Well, I still say 'yes', it is worth it, because I've enjoyed it.  Maybe you'll be safer renting it though, just in case it doesn't work for you.

Don't quote me on this, but I think the dots have something to do with connection strength.

Edit: I also wonder if you have to know someone's profile name as well as their friend code.  I noticed that for the people that show up for me, I have their correct profile name as well as their friend code.  The one's that don't show up, like Red Hamster, Abrahm, and yourself, I didn't know your profile names, so I just put in an approximation of your STC handle.

Edit 2: I see that Stephen and Abrahm have proflie names up there now, so I will try putting those in and see if they show up.

XLord007 Mar 17, 2008

Well, I finished the Subspace Emissary on Easy tonight, and unlocked most of the characters.  The addition of this lengthy single-player mode definitely makes SSBB my favorite SSB game so far; the others didn't really offer much chance to unlock stuff unless you play in multi-player.  And the musical arrangements are damn fantastic.  Too bad they'll never be an OST.

Idolo - Idolores won two rounds against me this weekend.  Good job dude!  I must say though, due to the lag, I wasn't quite myself.

Still waiting confirmation from everyone except Idolores and Jockolanter.  (Bring it next time!)

Tell me about it. I added several people, not just to Brawl, but also to Wii Friends, and only a few added me for either. Where the hell is everyone?

I claim distraction by midterm-from-Hell. (When dealing with tests that could potentially, and do, fail half the class, even things like Smash must wait their turn)

I'm planning to get back into online cycles tomorrow, though I'm now about five days behind everyone else in terms of character familiarisation. sad

I'm beginning to suspect that the profile name has to match as well.

When you add a person to the friends list, do you have to intervene manually, or does the system automatically hook thw two people up once the friend codes are in place on both machines?

Battling was fun, and I'd like to do it again if we can sort out the lag issue. smile

I tried to get into my address book to accept everyone's friend requests, but Wiiconnect24 was having issues. I'll bet it has something to do with SSBB... sad

It should do it automatically... mostly because there is no way to look people up manually.

Qui-Gon Joe Mar 18, 2008

Sorry, just got back... I'll work on getting codes entered tomorrow if I have the chance.  x_x

Well, everybody but "IDOLO" is still "awaiting registration."  WiiConnect24 is definitely messed up.

My code is 0430-8058-8164, for anyone interested.  Profile name Janus.

That's interesting because you show up as registered on mine since I changed your profile name to ERIOL.

I checked my friends code yesterday, and everybody except IDOLO is still "Awaiting Registration."  I think the profile name does matter.  Right now, I cannot play with anybody on the Friends List (IDOLO is offline when I log into the WiFi network).

How do you spell your profile name?  "Hvy D" (note the space and capitalization), "HvyD" , "HVYD", "HVY D", or some other variant?

The first way you have it above.  At any rate, I did some more testing, and while I think having the profile name right may help, it definitely is not required since I was able to successfully connect with a friend of mine and I didn't have his profile name nor did he have mine.  What I think is most strange is that you would show up as registered on mine, but I would not show up as registered on yours.  Do you have standby mode and the Smash message service both enabled when playing Smash?

Standby and Smash service are both activated.  So far, everybody but Idolo is showing up as Awaiting Registration.

I just deleted everybody's codes and I added yours again.

Sorry for the double post.

I read on a thread in Nintendo's tech forums that after each person adds their friend code, they should enter "Battle with Friends" on Wifi mode in the game.

Hvy D has an orange dot next ot his name, but he is not registered with me yet.

So. I turned on WC24 for the first time in ages, and a bunch of you barge into my Mii Plaza. Hooligans!

So far I haven't done much online with Brawl, but not for lack of want. Rather, Brawl caters to a particular flaw of my character - I want that Challenge Board cleared, and I won't know happiness until I do. So my evenings are spent CD farming, or Homerunning, or swearing a blue streak at Cruel Brawl.
But I kinda left folks who copied my info down, and I apologize.

I will most likely go on tomorrow night if anyone's interested. I'd do it tonight but I've an early shift in the morning. But anyway, hope to see some of you.

I have XLord007 and Angela on my friends list, and they still say "awaiting registration." It looks like both sides have to be online at the same time for this to work.

Angela Mar 28, 2008

Heh, just got my game on with Abrahm -- and got creamed in the process.  Indeed, I salute thy mad Bowser playing skillz. ;)

I've yet to really nail down any specific character, so I'll admit I wing it most of the time.    I thought I might like Snake, but he's a bit too methodical for my taste.  Been tinkering with Mario and Zelda lately, but I'd really like to try and get Zero Suit Samus down pat.  She'd seem like an unstoppable force if you can handle her speed.

Qui-Gon Joe Mar 29, 2008

The only person who's not "awaiting registration" from here so far is Idolores.  Rawrgh!

Have you used Youtube?  I did and sat amazed at how quickly some people get them, but also saw the general path to go.  I used Fox and didn't actually go the same way as they did.

Red HamsterX Mar 29, 2008

Seems I ran into SonicPanda in random matches today (likely when I was playing with a white Marth or zombie Toon Link). I see a connection quality indicator in my Friend Roster, yet it still shows as "Awaiting Registration". Odd.

I definitely added you a while ago... Chances are that, as others have suggested, we both have to be online at the same time for the registration to go through.

At present, I have Angela, Kenology, and one other person (I can't remember who at the moment, but they're using a Metroid emblem) properly registered, but I haven't played a match with any of them.

I found SonicPanda's status strange because, for the quality indicator to be present, we must have met up in some fashion, which means we must have both been online at the same time. Yet the registration process wasn't properly completed.

I'll be online for an hour or two tomorrow around noon, MDT. My profile name, which I forgot to include with my number, is "flan".

...And I feel silly 'cause the one with the Metroid emblem was you.

I blame the fact that I have a cold. That's my absolute excuse and I'm sticking with it.

Stephen Mar 31, 2008 (edited Mar 31, 2008)

Bah, I hate you all (not personally).  You all get to play Smash with each other, and I'm still looking at a list that says "Awaiting Registration."

Is anybody on during 7pm-10pm EST?  I'd like to "arrange" a meeting so I can see if I can register with anybody.

EDIT: I got my brother-in-law to sign on at the same time as me, and we were able to connect our profiles.  Thank goodness!

We should probably all just try to agree on a general meeting time for a few days of each week.

I can probably manage to be on during that window periodically, but it really depends on how much homework I have; that range is when I usually do most of it.

I'm just looking for some kind of time window that I can log on and see if any profiles will register.  While I won't necessarily be playing all through 7pm-10pm, I hope that if some of us are in this time window, some of these profiles would register correctly.

Angela wrote:

Thanks.  Now, if only I could believe I have that level of "skillz".  I may actually win some matches more often!

Seriously though, I use Bowser because I've always liked him (in all his forms).  Though I wish Nintendo would get a bit further away from his comical side and really make him a bit more frightening and evil... kinda like what Nintendo tried to do with him in Galaxy.

Speaking of fright, I was playing online and I finally saw that Metroid assist trophy.  Yeah, I ran; that thing looks scary.

EDIT:  Stephen, you're registered on my list.  Though, it doesn't look like you chose a name for your profile (if you have one).  I have you listed as STCst, the nickname I gave to your code.
