We managed to get an Opoona-specific interview with Sakimoto.  It actually turned out surprisingly well, as his responses were pretty thorough and insightful.  It's great to see more than a few sentences for the answers:

I think Opoona is some of his best work, so I hope they release a soundtrack for it.  I highly recommend finding a fan recording to hold you over in the meantime.  Anyone else playing through the game and feel the same way?

Thanks for the insightful interview. Nice that he explains how Basiscape is working. I'm personally not (and probably never will be) a fan of music teams splitting up the work, but I can see how this set up creates a more pleasant working environment for Sakimoto. It's especially nice that much (if not all) people of Basiscape are there due to being friends and not due to business necessities.

It's Kamikura (Noriyuki), not Uekura.

Opoona is awesome. I stand firm in the belief that it's his best work since FFXII. Odin Sphere and FFTA2 (among others) are weak in comparison.

I believe It's "Kaneda" too.  Not Kanada.  This is what came back from KOEI.

I was actually going to add in all the first names, but one of the composers, I couldn't find their first name after searching everywhere for it, so I decided not to list all their first names then have one without.  Perhaps it was this "Uekara" since that person really doesn't exist?  Haha.

I'll go ahead and make those fixes though.

Cedille confirmed the composer listings a while ago at CocoeBiz. It's definitely Kamikura and Kaneda -- they've done many other works for the company.

Music compose & Supervise
Hitoshi Sakimoto

Sound Direction
Masaaki Kaneko

Music compose & Arrange
Masaharu Iwata
Mitsuhiro Kaneda
Kimihiro Abe
Noriyuki Kamikura
Manabu Namiki

Sound Management
Miki Ito

Pity a soundtrack release mainly depends on sales figure. Opoona really bombed at least in Japan (anyone have US sales figures?). Then again, so did Deltora Quest and that got a soundtrack release.

I can't entirely work out the designations of the 13 people at Basiscape. I assume newbies Yoshimi Kudo and Asuza Chiba are composer and mixing engineer respectively rather than both composers as we've previously thought, though subsequent game projects will probably confirm this. There also must have been a new manager (Akie Sato's replacement) and sound engineer join that I'm not aware of. I guess Miki Ito is officially designated a manager not a sound engineer and Masaaki Kaneko must be designated a sound engineer. I use sound engineer rather than 'SFX worker' as their roles have always encompassed a lot, from sound programming to voice editing to sound effects design. Anyway, Basiscape need a new website.

BAH! I found Odin Sphere plenty melodic and powerful! Then again, as much as each theme is re-used, and as much as you listen to them play in-game, I guess they would stick in your head, but actually, there were plenty of pieces that left me wanting to buy the soundtrack as soon as I heard them.

FFTA2? Yeah, I've found the FFTA scores to be pretty weak in melody or memorability.

I'll agree that Opoona definitely deserves a soundtrack release.

A lot of people down VGChartz, but they seem to be pretty accurate in most instances.  They have Opoona debuting at under 5k copies last week in the States.

I really appreciate this article, Arc. Loved reading it. Thanks!

Never seen that site before. It's really useful, thanks. Pity that it seems like it'll bomb about as much in America as it did in Japan.

I've been the the local stores a lot the last few days, and I don't see it in the stores.  It's as if they're not even stocking it.  May account for why it's not selling.  Also, look how long it's taking for the big sites to get their reviews out.  Very little advertising.  If Sakimoto hadn't done this title, I would have never known about it.

Just listening to the music from this and it's truly exceptional--and great fun.  So while we know who the composers are do we have any clue who composed the majority of the tunes?

Cheers.

I think it's mainly Sakimoto, Abe, and Kaneda. They all have very distinctive styles that are often referenced on the rip. I think Namiki only contributed two pieces and I'm not too sure about Kamikura's contribution. An effort to make 'speculative' tags might be cool some time.
