I created this as an addendum to the first official Street Fighter IV Original Soundtrack release, so I attempted to follow its template fairly closely.  I believe I'd gotten all of the songs featured in the game, save for the Tournament Mode and associated jingle tracks; regrettably, Capcom has opted to lock out this mode until June, so I can't record them yet.  I may also try my hand at recording the prologue and epilogue cutscenes for the characters at a later time.

The stage themes (tracks 6-9 and 11) prominently feature their "Ultra" and "Heavy Damage" variations, edited together in the same fashion as the SFIV Original Soundtrack's stage themes. (Track 10's Crumbling Laboratory -Round 1- does not feature Ultra or Heavy Damage variations in the game.)  The eighteen new character themes specific to Super IV (tracks 17-34) were ripped and edited with proper loops from the SUPER STREET FIGHTER IV Character Sound Collection [Single Cut] CD release.

Enjoy!  Figured this will tide us over until (hopefully) an official soundtrack is released.  Questions and comments, always welcome.  And c'mon, let's just DISCUSS more of this awesome new Street Fighter score! smile

Now that's what I like to see, someone striving for quality when it comes to game music rips/recordings.  I've spent many many hours doing my own recordings and I know it's not a very fun or quick process, but the end product is so worth it.  Well done Angie, thanks for taking the time to do this!

TheGazelMinistry May 3, 2010

Thanks a lot. I'm actually really enjoying the character themes, and the SFIV OST overall. Are the previous SF OSTs this good?

Agreed.  Since the process is entirely your own, you know you'll be hitting your expectant level of satisfaction.  The hope, of course, is if that level also meets the satisfaction of those whom you plan to share them with. smile

Getting the Ultra and Heavy Damage variations down correctly was by far the hardest part.  I struggled for hours trying to get the transitions just right, and while I believe Skyscraper Under Construction, Festival At The Old Temple, and Solar Eclipse turned out well, finding integration points for Exciting Street Scene and Crumbling Laboratory -Round 2- was a much trickier endeavor.

I suppose it depends on what you're looking for.  SFIV really does boast its own unique brand of electronica techno-rock, but Zero 3 has a style that's somewhat akin to it.  The only caveat there is that it's not a very thematically pleasing score.  On the other hand, if you've been enjoying IV's character themes, you can't go wrong with most of the Street Fighter II, Zero 1, and Zero 2 related albums.  (Of which the majority of its character themes are based on.)  Off the cuff, my best recommendations for those new to Street Fighter would be Street Fighter II Image Album, Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, and Street Fighter Zero 2 Game Soundtrack.

Hey Angela. Not sure if you remember me (not that it matters so much), I used to post under the name saxajar starting with the creation of this board.

I just wanted to give you a huge huge thanks for doing this. It's awesome. And it sounds great. I've been enjoying these tracks here at work and very much appreciate stuff like this. So, even if you just did it for yourself, you can know people are enjoying the result of the effort you put in.

FuryofFrog May 7, 2010

I've been trying to buy Zero 2 ost from Mik forever but he never replies sad

Im almost done digesting the soundtrack.

Rimo May 9, 2010

Great rip Angela, thanks for creating and sharing it! All tracks are definitely enjoyable, although I've developed a soft spot for Theme of Balrog.

FuryofFrog May 12, 2010

To start out with the opening cinema is so epic. It fuses the main theme of 4 and then does an awesome mash up of a crap ton of songs. Just the way the song mashes up makes me extremely happy and gives chills to my spine towards the end. Select screen is pretty good especially with the nod to Alpha 3 in Main B.
The new selection songs are sufficiently badass but to tell you the truth I kind of miss the minor Indestructible remixes for this portion.

The theme songs really blow shit out of the water this time as far as composition goes. All of them come close to being as awesome as my fave songs from last game which were Snowy Rail Yard and Misty Bay.

Skyscraper being lead by overdriven guitar and metal clashes is completely awesome. I love the main melody and it really feels like Metro City to me.

Festival at Old Temple is an awesome ethnic/techno mashup with kind of a waltzy feel. I loved the hell out of this one. Does anyone else think this song screams hammered dulcimer?

Exciting Street Stage really makes good use of the old minor Indian keys and never stops being interesting. I was a little surprised at how upbeat this song was. To tell you the truth though this one doesn't fit my tastes really although I do enjoy the intro.

We finally get here. Solar Eclipse! I am sure there are many fans of this song and I'm no different. It doesn't really seem to go with the stage but its feel good techno and I don't give a shit because its that good. I could see Dee Jay jammin' out to this one. I'm pretty sure this song and the fact that there is a Solar Eclipse is the only reason I actually like the stage at all. Dumb hippos.

Crumbling Lab 1. Geez did this get awesome. As Secret Lab's replacement more or less it gets rid of the epic feel and replaces it with pumping techno thats hard not to get excited for. I always felt pumped to kick Seth's ass to this song. IMHO I think this usurps both Brave or Grave and Psych Out as my favorite SF boss theme.

Crumbling Lab 2 is the same really except with the epic voice treatment. So enjoyable. Strings make an appearance and supplement the techno with sufficient epicness to bring this match to an end once and for all. Rock on boss battle!

Bonus stages are kind of fun but I really ignore them most of the time. I believe the Barrel Buster is the better tune but there is nothing really noteworthy here. Everything done here is done somewhere else better.

The next 3 songs are kind of generic filler type songs although I do really like the melody for the replay screen.

SO FINALLY WE GET TO CHARACTER THEMES!!!

Honda. I like the old stylings with wood block but the added speed doesn't do much along with the new voice. It really doesn't sound Japanese to me. Its more like a recycling of the Thai chick really. This is decent but I didn't really enjoy this treatment.

Blanka. This is another song that got fast. This song actually turned out really cool. When it segues into the ending parts I really liked the strings hammering away. It really adds to the song and does some nice layering. Its a bit minimalist but pretty nice nonetheless.

Dhalsim. This is almost exactly what I would expect from a redone Dhalsim. Its almost Bollywood. Its fun and I like it despite never liking the original.

BALROG! BEST SONG EVAR!!!! The vocoder auto tune maybe a little much but the percussion destroys this song. When everything starts picking up I end up head banging everytime. I swear to god I get pumped everytime I listen to this song and I use to get ready for my day no lie. I wouldn't change anything thing here except making the drums louder. So awesome. I got that bike money you asked for Boxer.

Ah Vega. I love the extra clapping and the treatment of the main tune. Its weird though. I know the accordian is a staple of Spanish music too but I consider it more Italian so to hear it in his song is weird. Acoustic guitar and clapping is very nice. Its a wonderful song but not my favorite.

Fei Long. He really got a dash of Chinese in his main melody. This was another song I always kind of hated the original. I still really don't like the treatment. It doesn't know if its Chinese, poppy, or rock driven. Its very ambiguous and strange and I don't care for it much.

T. Hawk. Acoustic beginning. Just awesome. I don't know what the main melody sound is but its pretty cool. Its got a real spaghetti western feel. Unfortunately this song is subject to not being as awesome as New Mexican Thunderbird. It's a good treatment but it just seems like it went through the auto SF 4 machine really.

DEE JAY! I love it I LOVE IT ILOVEIT! The only thing I really wanted was a shit ton more Congas and steel drums. Remember Happiness from CVS2? I wanted some kick ass drums like that. You can hear splashes of it here and there but I can tell the drum wants his own solo. The trumpet will have to suffice though. Overall my second favorite remix in Super methinks.

Guy. He gets an exaggerated and wonderful remix. This one really brings out The Warriors elements of his song. Instead of being techno-E it has the big band flavor full force. Overall extremely enjoyable. Final Fight FTW.

Adon. The most hardest rock I've heard all album. Also the only place where the Thai chanting really does a kick ass job. Its hard to mess up a guitar driven piece like this one. Thankfully everything here is done awesome. I also love the set in this one too.

Dan. I always hated his song. After it gets out of the beginning portion into the guitar solo the song sounds awesome but overall it just sucks. Why couldn't Performance been remixed here? Gawd. Too much joke character cheese here.

Gen. I always loved the first 4 notes of this song. After that not so much. I am sad to say the same here. Its just not an interesting song really. For a Chinese assassin master I would expect something a little more Chinese and epic. Oh Well.

Cody. Intro of Final Fight? Turn the Beat Back. I love it. The kind of hip hop style really suits him well along with the bass strings that kind of add some depth along with the occasional guitar chord. I love this song.

Ibuki. This is an interesting remix of Twilight. I think I may like the original better but this is a pretty nice treatment of the song. This is another case of kind of a minimalist job although I do appreciate the echo-E kind of sounds in this here song. The sax is a bit much though.

Dudley. Wow. What did they do here? I really like the European techno dance feel they gave it but are the lyrics really necessary? I wouldn't think of this gentleman hitting the dance floor. I am also not a fan of the girl kind of humming. Overall only decent.

Makoto. Out of all three the best treatment was used here. It was no frills and just kind of an upgrade. Not too much to complain about here, then again nothing to really praise.

Juri. Its too good. I never liked the newcomers songs in 4 and I thought I was gonna hate this one too. I love the main melody, the screaming, the epicness. Please never end! One of the best new theme songs. I am also a sucker for evil themes.

Hakan. So we are two for two on this album. This is like Dhalsim's song if I liked it. The Turkish really comes through here and the main melody is too cool. The only problem here is the comical BOI-BOING sound. I don't know wtf they were thinking but it doesn't add anything to the song. Overall awesome.

Staff roll mash up. You can't get any better than this. Lets just say after I was done listening to this for the first time I had to wipe tears out of my eyes. It made me think of my Street Fighter existence as a whole. I started playing at 5 years old on Turbo. I begged my grandpa for quarters all the time to go and play. He would use 15 bucks on me every time we went. Street Fighter is apart of me and I love it.

Overall this album has a lot going for it. The treatments of the old songs along with the awesome new stage themes really brings it all together. Unfortunately I do miss The Next Door but whatever. My attention has been averted here by other awesomeness. I hope he composes for the next Darkstalkers game.

........There better be a Darkstalkers game otherwise I will be forced to fly to Japan with a sledge hammer and Ono's address.

Thank you so much Angela for ripping this. I throughly enjoyed it.

............So you wanna rip TVC UAS then???? Just kidding tongue Although if you did manage to rip Aensland Castle and Orbital Ring System I would forever be in your debt.

Judgment Day May 13, 2010

The way it's going, if nothing is announced by the time everything is unlocked, SSFIV may go the route of Neo Geo Battle Coliseum (which had some decent songs to it, but never saw the light of day on any official soundtrack). That being said, thanks Angela - Really appreciate it.

My opinion is that it's not very good. sad  The new stage themes sound more like generic VGM than the hard-hitting VGM-electronica combination in the original SF4, and the new and arranged character themes stick closer to ethnic music stereotypes without offering anything particularly interesting... certainly nothing along the lines of Guile's, C. Viper's or Rufus's themes from its predecessor.

I've only given it a couple listens thus far so will give it another chance or two, but it sounds to me like Fukasawa either used all his best ideas for the first SF4 or just kicked it into autopilot for this update.

Respect to Angela for her hard work though, I'm glad other people are finding more to appreciate from it.

Chris May 22, 2010

I think Adam's opinion sums up mine too. It definitely sounds more like a supplement than anything else and seems to either recycle old ideas or incorporate somewhat gimmicky ones. Really appreciate the recording though!

It ought to be mentioned that I had re-uploaded the soundtrack with new links.  It only came to my attention that I erroneously labeled the file names (the actual file names) with an incorrect number order.  Chalk it up to carelessness, but I had skipped over tracks 12 and 13, and started naming the tracks from Bonus Stage -Car Crusher- onward at track 14.  So it was looking like this:

10) Crumbling Laboratory Stage -Round 1-  (3:20)
11) Crumbling Laboratory Stage -Round 2-  (4:09)
14) Bonus Stage -Car Crusher-  (2:01)
15) Bonus Stage -Barrel Buster-  (1:46)
16) Challenge Mode  (2:04)

I went back and fixed it up -- and I also re-tagged the whole thing with track numbers so that the order would appear properly for those who use iTunes.  My apologies for that.

Dan, I read your impressions some days ago.  Couldn't get a chance to reply then, so I'd like to take a few of these in turn now.

Yeah, I was always delighted with the main theme they had come up with for SFIV; it's certainly proven to be a great framework for the overall mood of the games. The Main Menu Select Screen A is a solid remix.  The opening cinema is such an entertaining watch, due in part to the liberal use of themes as the fights rage on.  The appearance of Guy's theme paints the broadest of smiles on my mug, but I can't help but outright cheer when Juri's theme finally kicks in.  For some reason, Cammy's is the only one that feels shoehorned, but it's quickly saved by one hell of a transition back to Juri as the song finishes up.

The new selection songs are sufficiently badass but to tell you the truth I kind of miss the minor Indestructible remixes for this portion.

Indestructible's thematic presence is sorely missed.  Vanilla SFIV had one of *the* catchiest character selection themes in fighting game existence.  Was sad to see it go.

The theme songs really blow shit out of the water this time as far as composition goes. All of them come close to being as awesome as my fave songs from last game which were Snowy Rail Yard and Misty Bay.

Old Temple (Japan) and Historic Distillery (Scotland) were Vanilla IV's top hits for me.  (The 'Ultra' variation in Old Temple is one of the greatest eight second game music loops EVER.)   Festival At The Old Temple is as lovely as Skyscraper Under Construction is badass.

Crumbling Lab 1. Geez did this get awesome.

Agreed.  As a stage theme, I'd always felt that the original Secret Laboratory Stage was one of the weakest links in Vanilla IV -- yet designated as a character theme specific to Seth now, I have more respect for it.  But the new Crumbling Lab is one heck of an amazing new stage.  The melody rides on such a wonderfully smooth wave, and the use of strings and choir in the Round 2 variation really revs up the epic.

Dhalsim. This is almost exactly what I would expect from a redone Dhalsim. Its almost Bollywood. Its fun and I like it despite never liking the original.

I'm just glad Dhalsim turned out more melodically faithful to the original SFII here than he did in the Alpha games.

I liked the style they were going for, but I wished Boxer's overall presentation was a little less bass heavy and a little more punchier (ooh, pun) on the rest of the instrumentation.  Also, I'm pretty sure he's saying "fight" money; makes more sense, no? :)

Ah Vega. I love the extra clapping and the treatment of the main tune. Its weird though. I know the accordian is a staple of Spanish music too but I consider it more Italian so to hear it in his song is weird. Acoustic guitar and clapping is very nice. Its a wonderful song but not my favorite.

Both Boxer and Claw were my more anticipated returns for SFIV, but Claw definitely wins out as the better of the two.  The underlying techno feels just right, and the principle instruments on display feel more pronounced and confident.

Fei Long. He really got a dash of Chinese in his main melody. This was another song I always kind of hated the original. I still really don't like the treatment. It doesn't know if its Chinese, poppy, or rock driven. Its very ambiguous and strange and I don't care for it much.

Gotta disagree on every count here.  Despite it being one of the most melodically shortest themes in the series, Fei Long has always been a personal favorite of mine.  His style was always rooted in a clear cut, rock-pop fashion; Super IV simply elevates the instrumentation, and the result is exactly what I'd been hoping for. (By comparison, HD Remix's Flying Dragon's superfluous techno filler took a bit long to get going in places, plus it failed to include the memorable final portion of the theme - and the one featured on the 3DO/Anniversary Edition was much too weak to nail that hard-edged sound Fei Long was always about.)  Points to Fukasawa, too, for padding out the melody's short length in a substantial way.

Here we can agree.  New Mexican Thunderbird pretty much set forth the standard for terrific T. Hawk arrangements, and I suspect the folks who aren't as enamored with Super IV's score may look to this as a prime example of the 'going through the motions' autopilot argument.

Yeah, I was really surprised with Dee Jay myself.  I wasn't a big fan of his theme from the original SF2, but I love what they've done here.  The trumpet work is particularly awesome.

Juri. Its too good. I never liked the newcomers songs in 4 and I thought I was gonna hate this one too. I love the main melody, the screaming, the epicness. Please never end! One of the best new theme songs. I am also a sucker for evil themes.

Everything about Juri is awesome by eleven, her theme most of all.  Though I dug most of the newcomers' themes in Vanilla IV (Abel and El Fuerte especially), Juri is far and away the best of the six.  Like I mentioned in the game thread, it's malevolently playful and distinctly Capcom-like in composition.  The hooks are hopelessly irresistible, the screams punctuated in all the right places.  The quieter, twinkling synth section toward the end is a touch too C. Viper-ish for comfort, but it's a fabulously distinctive piece through and through.  Like the opening cinema, I get such a rush when her theme appears in Staff Roll..... the slower tempo churns out the purest, most delicious sort of evil.

............So you wanna rip TVC UAS then????

Regrettably, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom isn't on my current gaming agenda.  Even if I had a currently working Wii to play it on, it really doesn't look like my cup o' fighting tea.
