So, today's biggest news item for me was that on March 4, 2010, Etrian Odyssey 3 will be released in Japan. (Yay for awesome Koshiro music!...well, at least, I presume he's reprised his role as composer). Tired of roaming beautiful forests? Well, that's ok. Get ready to set sail you landlubbers! This one looks to take place on the open seas (with a bit of land exploration, I presume). I really really really really can't wait for the localization for this (nor the soundtrack, provided its Koshiro).

Etrian Odyssey...brutal, but fun. That's my motto for it! All new classes too! You can even be a pirate (or a ninja) and a bunch of others. Quite the exciting announcement if you ask me.

It might be fake, but I've read a quote of the interview with him.  According to it, the number of tracks is increased and the overall sound design (especially of the boss themes) is changed. I enjoyed the first game (until the 4th floor) and some of the music. Don't have time to play the second yet and even don't listen to my autographed soundtrack sad Still, nice to see one of the few ambitious DS sequenced soundtracks goes on.

I would welcome a change in the boss themes. As much as I liked them, I thought the normal battle theme direction was much better. Although, I think they have to keep the obligatory F.O.E. theme...its a staple of the series.

Yeah, the fourth floor (do you mean fourth labyrinth...?) is a pain. I didn't really have much issues with 2 or 3. I think these games, the learning curve in the beginning is steep, eases a bit, and then becomes painful again!

I'm at floor 4 of the second game right now and it's a doozy!  Practically every enemy you encounter has a chance to make you attack your own team, petrify you, or put you to sleep.  It makes grinding a nightmare.

I love EO, although I do think EO2 is substantially more difficult than the first.
Of course, I've only gotten to floor 6 on EO2 (been rather busy trying to pass school and all smile
Still, I have to admit, what I would really like to see is EO on the Wii. I think that would be great! They would need to revamp the map-system, but overall I think it would be fantastic. Also, I hope they add more classes and maybe tone-down the boss battles a bit.

cheers,
