Anyone plan on dropping for this?  I know there were a select few fans of Umbrella Chronicles here (Zane was one of 'em, as I recall), and from what I've been hearing, they've made some marked improvements with the sequel.   I never did get very far in the first game, since my first Wii was experiencing intermittent crap-outs at the time.  That, and it was pretty much too balls-out hard for me.

Hearing about a slightly more lenient challenge, along with more generous hit boxes, and a pretty boss soundtrack is getting me interested.  There definitely looks like some cool scenarios in this one; I'd need little excuse to dive back into the world of Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica, but the mission involving Leon and Krauser in South America (essentially the missing link before RE4) is something I'd really love to experience.

More than that, though, maybe I'm just trying to look for a Resident Evil this year that won't disappoint quite as much as RE5 did.

I'm there. I liked Umbrella Chronicles enough (not as much as Zane, though), and rail shooters are always a nice diversion. Difficulty doesn't bother me as much, adds to the 'arcadey' feel. If the soundtrack is composed of as much win or greater that went into the UC game, then that'll be double incentive.

I hear you on RE5, Angie. I think the only reason I was disappointed was because I had played RE4 first. I was expecting the exact same game, only in a more exotic setting. hmm

Also, being filled in on Leon's actions prior to RE4 and explaining his connection to Krauser sounds awesome.

I'm surprised that even after a ten-year absence from the game, I remember exactly who said that line.  Maybe it's because I have this hanging on my spare set of house keys. smile

I've never even played the English version of the game, and even I knew immediately who said that line wink

I'd love to know what Zell's original line was. Somehow I don't think that was a hard translation.

I guess I can look that up, but I have no idea at what point this was said.
Do you remember where that was exactly?

You're just issued your first SeeD mission, and you, Zell, Seifer and Quistis are in that funky van on its' way to Balamb.

I can swing with the NA localization of his preference for hotdogs from bread, but I was mildly disappointed that they changed Seifer's original Japanese nickname for Zell from "Chicken Punk" to "Chicken Wuss."  The term punk always seemed more apt to Zell's hairdo. tongue

... And just like that, a Resident Evil thread transforms into a FFVIII Zell-induced spiel.  Hot damn.

Kinda meshed, in my eyes. "Chicken wuss" sounds way more condescending than "Chicken punk", if a bit more redundant.

Like I said, I am only familiar with the Japanese version, but I am quite anxiously waiting for the English version to hit PSN so I can try it out.

All I know is that Ultimicia speaks with k's instead of c's, which I thought was kinda funny.
Also, I had been playing the entire game with her name transcribed in my head as "Artemicia", reminiscent of the Roman Goddess, and I remember being kinda dissappointed with the actual transcription, even if it does make slightly more sense to the FF series.

The real question Angela is:

Is that Wendy or Kootie Pie Koopa as your avatar?

JK, Darkside Chronicles does look better than Umbrella Chronicles, which I was also a big fan of. The difficulty was a bit much at times though...

As for RE5, can you tell me why you were disappointed in it? Most say the item system and lack of merchant, but these were obviously done to streamline the multiplayer experience.

The co-op multiplayer certainly worked well for what it was, but the core game itself was weak in several places.  I had rendered something of a final opinion of the game in this post here.
