American Nightmare Jan 17, 2009 (edited Jan 17, 2009)

Hey gang!  So I just pre-ordered this 3-CD "limited release" which is scheduled to be released on March 5th.  Not having seen any gameplay footage, nor having read anything whatsoever about the score, I've really no idea what to expect.  Any hopes that it'll be as good or better than Biohazard 4 (which featured my favorite music of the series so far)?

If you want an early taste, here's a four-track rip somebody made of the demo version:

It's been known for a while, but Kota Suzuki is handling compositional duties.  Alongside the Hollywood Symphony, African percussion is said be a prominent sound, given the game's setting.  The demo music on display is pretty RE-esque so far; I'm digging the frenetic action of "Public Assembly", and the steady, rhythmic dissonance of "AxeSaw" sounds like a definite mood setter for the next "chainsaw-wielding"-like enemy.

Thanks for the info and samples, Angela.  I'm intrigued by the idea of African percussion entering the mix, but I must admit, for the most part those tracks reminded me of a rehash of the music from BIO 4, but less inspired.  Four tracks can hardly be indicative of the score as a whole, though, so I won't make any decisive judgements just yet.  Too bad the game's release date comes after that of the soundtrack's.  I'd like to hear more samples before ultimately committing to a $50 purchase.
