A remake done right? "Rearmed" is a remake of the original Bionic Commando with visual enhancements and I'd imagine other things which will likely include an arranged soundtrack.

Came across some meaty screens on Magic Box: http://www.the-magicbox.com/0801/game080120c.shtml

I'm lamenting the fact they're giving this one to PlayStation and X360 instead of having it available on the Wii but I must say, this looks like it will be a fine reproduction (and a little Shin Contra-ish)! And I'm jump on the fact that it's, yes, outsourced.

Thoughts?

Definitely looks great! I'm wondering:

a)will it be download only? I hope not!
b)do you still get to kill Hitler? I hope so!
c)do you see Hitler's head explode? I hope so!

d)I wonder if they're doing this to get people pumped for the BC sequel?

cheers,

ps I never could figure out how exactly the head exploding actually got through the Nintendo censor! At the time it was shocking smile

a) Yes, download only
b) Pretty sure, but he's called Master D in this one
c) no idea
d) Yes, obviously.  Plus, having this will unlock a costume change in the upcoming 3D BC game (see the above trailer for that announcement)

I'm all over it.  The original NES Bionic Commando is still near the top of my all-time favorites list.  I'll definitely pay for an update that retains all the greatness of that game.

I hope the other arranged tracks are better than what I heard in the trailer, though.  I'll even settle for an option that will let me play with the NES game's music.  If they screw up my Area 6 music, then I'll be very unhappy.

And those images of Generalissimo Killt... I wasn't aware Bison had a brother.  neutral

http://www.bioniccommando.com was updated with a few new movies, and the price will be $10 US to download for PSN.

Though... listening to the BGM in the movies, it seems my fears about the music were realized.  But I'm gonna keep hope alive for a good Area 5/6/10 arrangement.  I mean, it's hard to improve on such a great piece of music.  But still...

Man, this looks hot.  Is it sad that this is going to push me closer to buying a 360 than any disc-based game?

Abrahm Apr 24, 2008

Every bit of new info makes me want the game that much more.  Bionic Commando, one of my all-time favorites, is getting a remake.  And it's not some barebones remake; we get HD visuals, new music, co-op play, and there's even a difficulty select.  Man, how cool is that?

The only things I'm still kinda concerned about are the music (which still hasn't quite 'hit' me yet) and the artwork.  I guess the dancey/electronic style can work here, and it may even grow on me.  The artwork, though... it's Shinkiro again and... well, we'll see.  neutral

And all you PS3/Xbox360 owners should buy this game.  Support Capcom here, and we may get another 2.5D HD remake for one of the other Capcom classics.    A remake of the NES Strider is definitely at the top of the WANT NOW list.  But how about Forgotten WorldsBlack TigerQuiz & Dragons?

XLord007 Apr 24, 2008

I watched the very lame trailer for the multiplayer modes that GameVideos has, and they don't look very interesting to me, especially with the SSB-like zooming camera.  I'm still massively looking forward to the single-player game, though.

Abrahm May 7, 2008

The Area 5/6/10 music is on the music player now; it's called "Heat Wave".  I had a feeling it would disappoint me, and I was right.  neutral

As I said, I won't judge the entire soundtrack right now, especially when all we have are a few low-quality streaming tracks.  Though I have to say, I'm really not liking the dancey feel of it.  The original music wasn't exactly epic, but it worked, you know?

Anyway, it looks like the game will be released on May 22 now, a week later than the May 15 date that was planned.  That day can't come soon enough for me; I need this game.

Rearmed is now apparently delayed till "Summer '08."  Says Capcom's John Diamonon:

"1942: Joint Strike, the follow up to the 194X series, arrives in July, followed by Bionic Commando Rearmed, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, and a pirate themed RTS called Plunder!"

Damn it.

Well, that's a relief.  Now I don't have to worry about whether it's right to buy a $450 game machine for a $10 game for at least a few more months. ;-)

That's quite a delay; it's at least two months outside of the original May date.  And summer doesn't end until September, so there's always the chance we won't see it until then.  neutral

The game was supposedly sent away for approval back in late April.  I thought the game was done at that point and just needed to be prepped for download.  Obviously, that's not the case.

And at the Bionic Commando site, this was posted:

I know the wait for BCR is painful but there will be some nice announcements to help soothe your pain over the next few weeks. One of them will be involving the music (oh yeaaaaah!) but for now try to "hang" in there a little bit longer.

The music?  Hmm... maybe this was one of the reasons for the delay?

Ah well... more waiting.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/07/ … -revealed/

- PSP remote play
- Dualshock 3 compatible
- possible PS3 trophy support added after release

Also, according to the comments there, 1942: Joint Strike will be available on July 24.  If the Rearmed release is still planned for sometime after that release in summer 2008, then we'll get it in August or September (when summer ends).

More waiting (again), but at least we got some news.

Rearmed on-the-go?  I don't give "wOOts!" out so easily, but this is certain wOOt-worthy.

wOOt!!

XISMZERO Jul 23, 2008

Sucks that I and others don't have a PS3 or X360 but blah fooey -- we got Mega Man 9.

Still think it's amazing that this and MM9 it will cost around $10 at launch.

Bump for hype!

Just three more days of waiting (hopefully) for us PS3 owners.  IGN posted their review, if you're interested.  They gave it a 9.4.

Was just about to post for the same reason.  Please please PLEASE don't let there be a delay on the eleventh hour.

Any of you playing through the NES original in anticipation?  I just might give it a go myself.

Oh I played it PLENTY back in the day, and it was a hard ass bitch. I hung in there like a trooper and finished it off eventually, but I'm guessing my skills nowadays might be lacking in comparison to then.
