I've always heard so many good things about the Cube version of this that I couldn't resist the chance to check it out now that it's been freed from the shackles of the bongo controller.  In short, it's fast and fun.  Those who like games with lots of little combo tricks and continual score improvement will be especially pleased since that's basically how the game works.  For $30, you could do a lot worse.

The Japanese release of this caught my eye a while back and now that it's out back home I'm definitely tempted.  Am I the only one who finds it ironic that the game has actually lost most of its motion controls in the transition to Wii?

Do you think with the combo system and what not the game will hold up well over time, Xlord?  I saw no mention of any kind of multiplayer in the IGN review, but if the one player mode is engaging enough and the price is right I might go for it.

Depends on your definition of "over time."  For $30, I'm expecting to have some quick fun and be done.  By now, I'd imagine you can probably get it pretty cheap used in Japan.

what a shame you haven't experienced it with bongos, much improved over gimmicky waggle controller.
felt great on gamecube, it's just ok on wii.
and you could have got it probably for the same amount of dough(with bongos controller).

I don't know, only ever played this once before but I don't think it's be as fun without the Bongo Controller.

It's not like the Bongo Controller was as bad as say the power glove.

Mind you, Nintendo were PROMOTING the Power Glove as being bad:

I love "The Wizard," it's so bad.

Additionally, if you've never played SMB3 - a game that is different from those that came before it - I really doubt your gonna find the warp whistle on your first try. Ah, hollywood....

Yeah, it's a pretty terrific game with the bongos -- I had more fun with it than Donkey Konga, actually.  Though I'm still curious to see how well it transitioned over to the Wiimote scheme, I suspect it wouldn't be quite as tactile.
